Education:

MA in Comparative Literature (Aarhus University). Ph.D. from Modern Culture (University of Copenhagen).

Field of research:

I am researching young people, participation and education. I am interested in how young people develop communities and determination in alternative arenas, especially in art and culture. In relation to this, I am especially interested in the importance of aesthetic processes in young people's ability to read, navigate and operate in new experience contexts and develop new scenarios.

For several years, I have also worked with how transformations in educational areas are configured through a global interpretation horizon. Hereunder, how change contributes to the rethinking and re-actualizing of knowledge and formation concepts in education.

I am working on a research project about disadvantaged young people's participation in art and cultural projects titled "Alternative arenas for social action." The research project will examine which educative, social, personal and educational / occupational skills, the disadvantaged young people develop through their participation in music, art and theater projects. How young people's participation in the alternative arenas connects to the rest of their lives. And in what ways, their participation in the alternative arenas helps strengthen young people's decisiveness and ability to change. The research project is supported by The Bikuben Foundation and will be done along with my colleague, Associate Professor Niels Ulrik Sørensen.

I am also working on a follow-up research project with six High Schools in Central Denmark Region. In order to strengthen the international dimension in education, we develop, test and share knowledge of a number of exemplary teaching plans and learning activities with international perspectives in different subjects and inputs. The project is supported by Central Denmark Region.

Finally, I am associated with a major research and development project between the communication departments of six Danish art museums. I mainly contribute to the development of research methods in order to explore how we can develop an understanding of, on the one hand, the aesthetic dimensions of learning and on the other hand, the learning that takes place through aesthetic processes.
